The reason behind the first death which has been reported in the US food poisoning occurrence was due to consumption romaine lettuce.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the numbers updated towards outbreak of E. coli this Wednesday unveiled that around 121 patients were found sick in almost 25 states. Around 52 people were being hospitalized out of which 14 were kidney failure patients, presenting a remarkable count towards hospitalization. Massachusetts, Kentucky, and Utah states are also included as reported by CDC, and 24 cases reported in California.

The reason behind the first death which has been reported in the US food poisoning occurrence was due to romaine lettuce. The only information shared by the state and federal health official was the death of an unidentified person which was being reported in California. Moreover, E. coli outbreak has been tied up with romaine lettuce by the Health officials, that was traced in Yuma farm, Arizona, where maximum amount of the romaine is being sold during winter in the US.

All the possible ways are being examined by the FDA’s in finding out the exact cause, this infection might have appeared during harvesting, growing, packaging and through distribution channels. Moreover, they found out that few cases were connected to the salad which included romaine lettuce a common ingredient, consumed in the restaurant.

However, lettuce season (Winter) in the Yuma area along with the Imperial Valley in California has currently vanished, and right now no other region has been found with any of the illnesses. Even though consumption of lettuce has been on old right now, the count of cases must have gone up as there is a break in reporting. The first illnesses caused due to romaine lettuce appeared in March, and another one was reported in the month of April, as shared by CDC.

Perhaps, most of the E. coli bacteria are not that harmful, in fact some do have toxins that cause illness. People falling sick due to this harmful bacteria or E. coli, notice symptom in few days after absorbing the germs, the symptoms are diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps. While this illness can be severe in some cases that can last for a longer period or most of the time can be recovered soon.
